Spike and Plate pulling on marked dead ties, Highmount to Arkville
Doug Odell Sr
Doug Odell Jr
First let’s say welcome to Doug Odell Sr and Doug Odell Jr. ! It is their first time out on a track crew and within an hour it was like they had worked on the railroad with us for years. We hope to see them and their families often throughout the year at our many events. Feel free to email our new team mates and welcome them aboard.
We met at Fleischmanns at 9:00 AM and set the track car on as well as re-railed the work flat. After loading all our tools on we proceeded East to where we had stopped pulling spikes and plates on marked ties last fall. After a short safety briefing we got to it and started pulling the spikes and plates on the marked ties. With everyone contributing it wasn’t long before we passed mile post 43 ! We stopped for lunch around 12:30 and went to Arkville for Pizza. After lunch we went back to Fleischmanns and took the track car back to the work site where we had stopped. We called it quits around 4:30 which gave us enough time to set off , tie down the work flat and run the spikes back to the yard in Arkville.
